About the Author
Maria Lofftus was recently Kaplan's director of academic services for the health sciences. Prior to that she was assistant dean for admissions at the University of California at San Diego, School of Medicine. During her nineteen years in medical school admissions, Ms. Lofftus held numerous leadership positions within the Association of American Medical Colleges, including serving as a member of the Committee for the Expanded Minority Admissions Exercise, as a trainer-facilitator for the Expanded Minority Admissions Exercise, and as chair of the Committee on Admissions. Currently she is the vice president of sales and marketing at nschool.com, a leading K-12 teacher-driven communications service.
