The law relating to Town and Country Planning has a major impact upon the physical environment. It affects private citizens and developers. The primary purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive and easily understood text for students, practitioners and members of the general public. It will be of interest to anyone involved in the planning system in England and Wales. Each chapter deals with a particular aspect of planning law. To avoid unnecessary complexity in the content of the chapters which deal with planning legislation, where appropriate, the following chapter deals with the case law which amplifies the relevant legislation. In addition, the book also outlines other areas of land law which relate to environmental control, including European Directives. In writing this text, the author has drawn heavily upon his own experiences. As a University Senior Lecturer, he has taught planning law in England and Malaysia to both postgraduate and undergraduate students in a variety of disciplines which require an understanding of the planning system. He is also involved in private practice as a planning consultant, and has combined his experiences to provide a text which is comprehensive, informative, practical and easily understood.
