European food law has developed piecemeal over time. There has been no central text setting out the principles and defining the obligations of those working in the European food industry. In 1997 the European Commission published a Green Paper on Food Law identifying the basic goals. This book is for lawyers, Environmental Health Officers and all dealing with the regulation of the food industry in Europe. It gives the user a quick reference to all the EU laws and leading cases pertaining to specific food-related issues. Raymond O'Rourke is an Irish lawyer who is qualified as a Barrister in England. He worked for six years as a Policy Adviser at the European Parliament, and for two years with the European Consumers' Association.
