About the Author
Dr. Joycelyn Pollock has been a professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Texas State University-San Marcos (formerly Southwest Texas State University) since 1993. She received a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Albany and a J.D. from the University of Houston. She has been a probation and parole officer in the state of Washington and a program review specialist for the New York Department of Correctional Services. Dr. Pollock received a Fulbright teaching fellowship in 1998 and taught law and criminology at the University of Turku, Finland. She has conducted training for criminal justice professionals in the areas of criminology, sexual harassment and ethics. Her published works include: Prisons: Today and Tomorrow (Jones and Bartlett), Women, Prison and Crime, 2d ed. (Wadsworth), Prisons and Prison Life: Costs and Consequences (Roxbury), Criminal Women (Anderson), Exploring Corrections (with John Whitehead and Michael Braswell), Women, Law and Social Control (with Alida Merlo), and Morality Tales (with Michael Braswell and Scott Braswell). --This text refers to the Paperback edition.
