About the Author
Virginia L. Lawson is an attorney who has been practicing real estate law nearly 20 years. After finishing her undergraduate degree with a major in real estate at Eastern Kentucky University, she worked as a REALTOR®, prior to attending law school at the University of Louisville School of Law. Lawson has been active in the real estate industry in a variety of capacities and has represented numerous boards and associations of real estate agents, brokers, and lenders. A large part of her practice includes defense work for insurance carriers who provide real estate licensees professional liability insurance. She teaches a variety of continuing education classes and training sessions for colleges, universities, proprietary schools, real estate foundations, the state licensing agency, and brokerages. In addition to teaching, she acts as an expert witness in real property cases and she writes articles, appearing in newsletters, trade publications, newspapers, and journals, about many legal aspects of real estate, including agency, anti-trust, fair housing, disclosure, risk reduction, and contracts. She is the author of Sales Contracts for the Real Estate Professional published in 2002 by South-Western Thomson Learning.
