Since these countries achieved independence as a result of the post-Cold War dissolution of their predecessor states, there is a relatively complex minority situation in all three--the result of changing state borders. Dr S. Trifunovska is currently a Senior University Lecturer at the Law Faculty, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. She is also the editor of Minorities in Europe: Croatia, Estonia and Slovakia.
