Foreign, angry chants assaulted my ears as I watched on TV the burning body of an American soldier being viciously dragged down a street in Iraq. It was sobering and truly a sign of the Republicans' times. The Clinton years and the prosperity of America were over. The years 2000 and 2004 would see presidential elections filled with corruption and deception in the state of Florida and others. Deceptions, in fact, would run rampant during the Bush administration, deceptions that would subsequently lead to the scene I now witness. Yes, it was true that the plots of the Republicans were somewhat unclear to me in 1997 during my testimony in Whitewater, but as a witness in the Susan McDougal trial, the plot of the Republicans was all too clear. Yet, I could not fathom this American tragedy or the deceptions that America would face under the leadership of President Bush and the Republican-led Congress.
