About the Author
Judith A. Marty, Esquire earned a B.A. with distinction in sociology and Spanish from the University of Minnesota in 1977 and her Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1982. She is a Certified Leader of Barksdale Self-Esteem Workshops and utilized her knowledge of self-esteem building in her family law practice, representing abuse victims and mediating custody arrangements to improve family relationships after divorce. She has received awards from the City of Minneapolis, the Minnesota Supreme Court, and Chrysalis Women's Center for her volunteer work and has been an advisor to the United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees in Hong Kong regarding the protection of children in refugee camps. She established Divorce Seminars & Information in 1988 as a resource to address the issues the legal system ignores, including financial planning and self-esteem building. Her goal is to help families make a healthy transition through the divorce process. Her seminars encourage growth and self-confidence, integrating intellectual understanding with positive conditioning and relationship enhancement. She became a communications trainer because most legal problems stem from poor communication. She believes in getting to the root of a problem and creating lasting solutions. Since a life without problems is not possible, she teaches a "problem-solving" methodology that can be used throughout one's lifetime.
