Successfully Managing Change in Organizations: A User's Guide
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
What other authors have tried but failed to do, Steve Thomas has delivered in the first how-to-do-it guide to successful management of change in organizations that is written at the operating level.
Written by a user for users, this unique book is designed for all managers who have been given the difficult task of bringing change to their organizations and making it stick. Drawing on his wealth of practical and proven experience, Thomas identifies and explains the eight key elements of change-leadership, work process, structure, group learning, technology, communications, inter-relationships, and rewards. He demonstrates that these elements are interrelated, and that they constitute a Web of Change. Thus, if one element is changed, its impact on the others must be understood and adjustments must be made to the entire system.
Additionally, Thomas shows how change is to be measured in each targeted element as well as on the other elements it affects. The reader will learn how to use a radar-like diagram (illustrating the aforementioned Web of Change) to generate and graph scores on each element in a form that visually portrays how they are interconnected. This analysis can be done on paper or in a spreadsheet format by using the data on the enclosed computer disk.
Providing readers with all the necessary tools, this pathfinding book is an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to know, step by step, how to design and implement change successfully.
