About the Author
Matthew T. Sears, CEBS is Executive Vice President of Athens Benefits Insurance Services, a highly successful employee benefit consulting and brokerage practice. Headquartered in Northern California, Athens clients are spread throughout the United States. Sears brings 22+ years experience of working with hundreds of organizations to this exploration of employee benefits. It is that experience, combined with that of his colleagues that led to the development of The Benefits Performance Process.
Sears is a Fellow of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Sears was awarded the prestigous CEBS designation nearly 20 years ago by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Sears has written hundreds of articles on the subject of employee benefits for the corporate newsletter, Benefit Trends, numerous in-house newsletters. He is a frequent speaker for public and private employer groups, as well as academic organizations.
In his free time, when he's not helping companies improve their benefits plans, he practices stage magic, is a competitive youth soccer coach and referee and is active in his local church. He lives with his wife and two children in the San Francisco Bay Area.
