Jim and Dana Robinson, Partners in Change, Inc.,
"If you want to know what it is like to do human performance improvement (HPI) work, read this book! Each of the 22 cases illustrates how the HPI process of analysis, intervention, and evaluation does result in desired change - and can do so in a time-efficient manner." Marjorie L. Budd, Manager, Acquisitions and Research Workforce Development, Federal Aviation Administration.
"This book takes the mystery out of human performance intervention and makes it practical and accessible. It is a book that brings the theory to life and confirms once again that examples are the best teachers. I think it will be a valuable asset for all of us toiling in the fields of the real world." Beryl Agua, Worldwide Management Development, Oracle Corporation.
"An easy read for human resources, organization development, and human performance practitioners. The case studies presented provide excellent examples that illustrate how to solve business problems using a systematic approach."
Book Description
This book serves as a "real life" performance intervention workshop. All 22 case studies contain an abstract, organizational profile, and description of why the need for a performance intervention first surfaced. From there the reader is walked through the analysis, implementation, and evaluation phases, and concludes with a summary section. The case studies, which span technology companies, public schools, hospitals, and the military, are divided into four specific intervention types: Process and Job Redesign; Selection, Retention, and Professional Development; Training Redesign; and Multilevel. Use these success stories to convince management of the real bottomline benefits of a human performance improvement approach.
