This course is made primarily as a compliance course to teach workers in a healthcare organization about patient rights, and, most importantly, the instructions for end of life care. It is useful for anyone delivering or administering patient care. The first part of the course, which contains 131 pages and takes 1-2 hours, teaches you to differentiate between rights and ethics, describe some ethical controversies, describe the concept of patient rights, describe the JCAHO standards for patient rights, list patient rights under Medicare, list and explain the AHA list of patient rights, and explain the documents needed for end of life care, particularly advance directives. The second part of the course is a patient rights exercise lasting 1-2 hours with 36 pages. It guides the student through an approach to ethical issues and helps the student evaluate one of his choosing, and gives some short cases. You must have Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher running on your computer. Supported operating systems are Windows 95, 98, 98 SE, ME, 2000, or XP. You will need Internet access to e-mail us your unique key and receive a password key. License is for one user on one computer. An additional computer owned by the same user will generally be approved at the discretion of the publisher.

**Description** This CD course on patients rights is easy to understand and can be backed up if review is needed.
**Purpose** Education of healthcare professionals is the purpose. The CD clearly describes all aspects of patient rights including those of advanced directives. It clearly meets or surpasses the stated objectives.
**Audience** This would be appropriate for students in healthcare settings as well as healthcare providers. It crosses across specialties and is multidisciplinary in nature. It clearly meets the needs of the intended audience. The author is clearly a credible authority in the area of patient rights.
**Features** The CD uses graphics, sound and video. There are alternate ways to use the CD based on possible handicaps. It was very easy to install. The material is presented in a clear format that is easy to understand. I particularly enjoyed the discussion of advanced directives. To compare them to living wills, but differentiate them was excellent.
**Assessment** The quality of this CD is excellent. It clearly identifies all aspects of patient rights every healthcare professional should know.
