This third edition provides a succinct but comprehensive coverage of the new CIPD standards. It includes a variety of appropriate cases and article extracts to pinpoint the key issues and make the text very accessible to CIPD students. Complex areas are simplified without losing sight of the varying influences and changing contexts. There is a great sense of realism throughout the book, with a balanced viewpoint shown through examples of failure as well as success. The authors place great importance on cross-referencing where certain key subjects are visited in two or more chapters with different approaches, illustrating that it is artificial to pigeon-hole subjects into neat compartments.
