About the Author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Steven M. Darter is President of People Management Northeast.Prior to joining People Management, Steve was on the staff and faculty at Saint Joseph College (CT) where he was the Director of the Career Planning and Placement Office and taught the career counseling sequence in the graduate counseling program. He also worked in insurance sales and held management positions in retailing before attending graduate school.

Steve started his consulting career with People Management in 1976. In 1984 he was appointed Senior Vice President and head of executive search and selection, in 1990 President of PMI Northeast, and from 1996-1999, served as the first Chairman of People Management International, L.L.C. (PMI's partnership organization). He has an M.S. in Education and an Ed.S. in Counseling and Personnel from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany. His B.S. is in Sociology from SUNY at Oswego.

Steve has been a guest speaker/facilitator at seminars, appeared on radio talk shows, authored several articles, served as Vice Chairman of the Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce's Technology Council and has been profiled as one of North America's top executive recruiters in the book, The New Career Makers, based upon survey results of CEOs, senior HR executives, and other business leaders.

Steve specializes in executive search, selection, succession, executive development, and consultation on issues related to “job fit” and the effective utilization of employee strengths.

People Management was founded in 1961 and has offices and affiliations in twenty-eight locations throughout the world. For close to forty years, PMI has focused its business applications on “job fit” - helping organizations to improve results through a better understanding and positioning of people and helping people to make good decisions about work.
