Book Description
This is a fictional story about three people who bonded early in life and accomplished great things as a successful team. Their credo is founded in honesty, integrity and will to challenge things that do not meet their high standards. The title, Day One, implies that each day is a new dawning, an opportunity for people to live life to its fullest while maintaining honesty and integrity. The story spans from the mid-sixties through the first decade of the Twenty First Century and chronicles the contributions made by Anna and Duke Hunter, and their friend Art Fowler during critical times. It is a story of love and devotion that endures suspenseful episodes during their lives.
About the Author
Golf, fishing and traveling were welcomed changes to the author upon retiring, but fell short of satisfying creative urges. His working career as a Professional Engineer offered many opportunities for personal expression; designing and guiding projects to completion had creative aspects, as did organizing the engineering efforts of a large corporation. A tentative first stab at writing produced an intriguing plot and Ladd became hooked on writing fiction. Now a passion, he has written eleven novels during the past six years, plus numerous essays and poems. Seemingly never without a plot or subject matter, he usually writes before the rooster crows - - between three and eight AM - - and then it's off to the golf course. Born in Danville, VA, he is a WW II veteran and has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech ('51). Ladd and his wife, the former Sara Watson, have three children and two grandchildren.
